The Morning Show interview Lydia about body image issues
Paris Hilton has recently come under fire for having gained weight, with many tabloid articles criticizing her for being too fat. Kim Wilson, editor of New Idea, and co-director Lydia Jade Turner were interviewed about this issue today on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show. Lydia highlights the problem of public scrutiny and shaming celebrities for the way that they look.

very articulate, love how you raised the issue of “hypermonitoring”!

January 31, 2011 at 3:02 amI really wish they would stop pointing out whether a celebrity has gained weight, lost it, has cellulite … we seem to continually judge women by the way that they look. Telling us that a supermodel has cellulite is not empowering, it just gives all of us permission to continue judging other women’s bodies. One more wish: get rid of that Paris Hilton!!
January 31, 2011 at 3:30 amthis is wonderful. i’m so glad to see you put New Idea’s editor in a corner and she had to come out with that crass line “oh well if it sparks a discussion on body image…”"!! nice work
