Our directors discuss the BodyMatters' approach to prevention & treatment!

What People are Saying about BMA:

“It’s become increasingly rare to find health professionals who are genuinely compassionate and put integrity before profit and self-interest.

Lydia and Sarah are the real thing.

Passionate advocates who are committed to equity and justice for those who have been harmed by our toxic image obsessed culture, they understand the issues we all face. Inspirational and energetic, Lydia and Sarah know how to transform shame into dignity and self-respect.”

Dr. Abigail Bray, Author of 'BodyTalk: a power guide for girls' & Research Fellow, Social Justice Centre, Edith Cowan University

Advocacy & Prevention

At BodyMatters we are serious about the prevention and treatment of eating disorders and unhealthy weight loss behaviours.

Our main aims include advocating for greater access to treatment for eating disorder sufferers, and changing the cultural attitudes that contribute to dysfunctional eating patterns.

Soon we will be launching a non-profit advocacy group called BodyUnion. BodyUnion will expose corporations, marketers, advertisers, and media that cause harm by promoting rigid body ideals, false information about health and diet, while inducing bodily anxieties – all in the name of maximising profits.
Inspired by the BugaUp campaigns of the 1970s against the tobacco fat-cats, BodyUnion will take an avant-garde approach to activism. It will comprise of individuals, organisations, and community-groups – all working together in the fight for public health.
We hope you will join us. Keep watching this space!
