At BodyMatters we are thrilled to host a placement for Amy-Jo, Endangered Bodies Australia’s first ever student.

 

If you were wondering who is responsible for many of the great things being uploaded to the Endangered Bodies Facebook page lately, Amy Jo is the person we can thank!

We decided to ask Amy Jo a bit more about herself, and thought you might be interested in knowing more about her.

NICKNAME: AJ or Hurricane

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Currently studying community services at TAFE Northern Beaches

 

ACHIEVEMENTS: Saving up enough money to spend the summer in Europe in 2013

 

WHY DID YOU PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY?  I like the ability to be able to help people gain control of their lives in order to help them get there light back.

 

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK AT BODYMATTERS?  I loved the Organisations style of helping both spectrum of disordered eating. Working with everything from bulimia and anorexia to emotional and over eating presented as a unique challenge.

 

YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE:  Absolute power corrupts absolutely- Lord Acton

 

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: In 10 years I see myself working to help people bring light back into their lives be it from trauma disordered eating , and find their power and strength within themselves .

 

FAVOURITE SPORTS OR ACTIVITIES: I love NFL roll Alabama tide Y’all , although NRL holds a special place in my family my pop placed for years and is in the team of the century as Center of Century

 

FAVOURITE HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: I am interested in people, and the different way that people who have been through different things conduct themselves. I also love to travel, I went to Italy and it was honestly the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

 

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET SKILL: My Lemon Meringue Pie & Chicken Jambalaya

 

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: I am inspired by people living their true authentic selves/ life regardless of others opinions. I am also inspired by strong women who in the face of adversity are strong and courageous women like Wendy Davis and Hilary Clinton.

 

WHO WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD HEROES? As contrived as it sounds, my sister was my childhood hero I remember watching her and wanting so much to be like her.

 

3 THINGS YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND:  A book , some food and maybe Peyton manning or Ryan Gosling

 

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE?  Pecan pie with bourbon cream glaze

 

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE?  Freedom Writers

 

FAVOURITE PLACES TO TRAVEL: I loved Italy everything from the food, the wine , culture was simply incredible

 

IF YOU DIDN’T PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY, WHAT OTHER PROFESSION WOULD YOU PURSUE? I would probably a criminologist I like to be able to put together all the piece of a puzzle to find the answer , or I would be an English teacher.
