Eating and body issues often work to create disconnection from our body, while yoga helps to encourage body awareness and connection in a nurturing way. Through the practice of yoga we are able to become more aware of our bodies from a place of respect, acceptance and love.
What is this course all about?
Love Body Yoga’s programs are designed to support individuals who struggle with food and body image challenges on all ends of the spectrum; including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge-Eating and negative body image.
This Yoga for Recovery Course will:
- Introduce yoga as a practice that helps you tune in to sensations in your body and move in unison with your breath
- We will learn to regulate and calm difficult emotions and thoughts common with eating and body issues, rather than repress them through destructive behaviours
- Learn to experience self-love by rediscovering this feeling of being ‘at home’ in your body and mind.
What is the structure?
Each week we will practice yoga including Hatha, Flow & Yin styles. There will be a theme or intention formed for each practice, and each session will encourage an embodied experienced within yourself on the mat. We will also practice meditation, have discussions, reflections, some group work & some take-home work each week.
You are welcome to share as much or as little as you like throughout each session.
Who is leading the course?
Lauren – our Love Body Yoga instructor. Lauren also holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work.
Who can attend?
Anyone and everyone! As much as this is a ‘Yoga for Recovery’ course, if you experience negative body image or often have self-defeating thoughts about yourself or your body, then this course will help encourage a more self-loving & compassionate mind-body relationship with yourself.
