Nourishing Carers is a small semi-structured support group held over three consecutive weeks. The program was developed by the Centre for Clinical Education to help parents, carers and partners of adult sufferers to support their loved one through the recovery process. The aim is to provide guidance, education and support in facing the typical challenges experienced by parents, carers and partners in supporting a loved one. To gain the most benefit from the program it is recommended participants attend all three sessions as different content is covered each week.

Who are your facilitators?

The facilitators for the Supporting your loved one with an eating disorder (all other parents, carers, siblings, partners) are:

Karen is a provisional psychologist at BodyMatters. In addition to her psychology qualifications, she also holds a Bachelor of Nursing degree and has extensive experience working in the acute care hospital setting as a registered nurse. This background has created a passionate interest in the holistic relationship of psychological and physical health with a particular interest in the area of Eating Disorders and Body image.

 

Linn is also a provisional psychologist at BodyMatters and has a strong interest in body image, eating disorders, physical activity and general health and wellbeing. Linn has a Bachelor of Science Psychology and a Master in Psychology with a specialization Clinical and Health Psychology. In addition to her psychology degree she holds a Master in Public Health with a specialization in Public Health Nutrition, and is also a qualified Personal Trainer.

Anything that is discussed in the group stays in the group and we are able to trust one another to respect each other’s privacy.
