NICKNAME:  Kaz

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons), Graduate Diploma Psychological Science, Diploma of Psychological Practice

ACHIEVEMENTS: At a personal level, I would say watching my three children grow into young adults with the courage to pursue their dreams.Professionally, completing my psychology degree and commencing a second career that I  am passionate about.

WHY DID YOU PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY? I have always been fascinated by what makes us all “tick”and in many ways have the same needs but are so incredibly individual. My nursing background also played a major role in my motivation to understand the connection between our physical and psychological selves.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK AT BODYMATTERS? The team at BodyMatters are so dedicated and passionate about their work and it is an amazing opportunity to be a part of that team. I also relate to the BodyMatters philosophy of health as a holistic process.

YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE:  “The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried. Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying”.  Roy T.Bennett

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: Hopefully still enjoying all the things I’m enjoying now!

FAVOURITE SPORTS OR ACTIVITIES:  I am currently in love with Reformer Pilates- the feeling of strength and flexibility is worth the effort! I also enjoy ocean swimming and do this as many mornings a week as possible. It is as much for the mind as the body. I also love walking on the beach any time of the day in all weather.

FAVOURITE HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: Travel is my favourite thing- near or far as long as there is adventure and new horizons.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET SKILL: My secret skill is reverse parallel parking. I’m not sure how or why but I am actually quite good at this and can get into the smallest spot!

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU:  People who show kindness and generosity of spirit no matter what is happening in their own lives.

WHO WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD HEROES: I will give away my age here but being a swimmer, my childhood hero was Shane Gould (she is actually a few years older than me!). She was the only swimmer to ever win 5 Olympic medals in a single Olympics and held every world freestyle record simultaneously. And she retired at age 16-incredible!

3 THINGS YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND: Sunblock, my swimming goggles and a good (long) book.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE: I’m addicted to Nordic Noir film (or TV series). I’m not sure why-maybe it’s all the beautiful frozen landscapes. I certainly don’t speak any of the scandinavian languages-it’s subtitles all the way.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE:  “Love Actually”. I know we all have to watch endless reruns every Xmas but I’m not complaining.

FAVOURITE PLACES TO TRAVEL: Anywhere and everywhere although Italy is probably the favourite.

IF YOU DIDN’T PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY, WHAT OTHER PROFESSION WOULD YOU PURSUE: I would have continued to nurse and would always want to pursue a career that is health related. I’m very happy to be doing both at the moment.
