NICKNAME:  Mihazza, Mih, Featherfoot

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Diploma of Graphic Design

ACHIEVEMENTS: I see as my greatest achievement the fierce courage to be myself, listen to my heart and follow my soul path, even when it may not align with social expectations.

WHY DID YOU PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY? I have a sense that initially I wanted to help others and save the world, still not being aware I was the one I needed to save. It took many years of internal exploration and courage to face my own wounds to realize that I was the one I have been waiting for. Once I was able to hold myself in this place of love and compassion, it has profoundly shifted my approach and ability to support others on their journey.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK AT BODYMATTERS? For me, it is a priority to work in a warm, supportive workplace aligned with my values. I resonate with Body Matters’ values and passion for helping people recover from eating disorders and challenge the dieting culture. I believe in Health At Every Size approach and focus on a healthy, nourishing relationship with food and body.

YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE:
“Walking, I am listening to a deeper way. Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me. Be still, they say. Watch and listen. You are the result of the love of thousands.” Linda Hogan, Native American Writer

“I must have a dark side too if I am to be whole, and by becoming conscious of my shadow I remember once more than I am a human being like any other.” Carl Jung

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: Ah, that one is not easy to answer, especially considering the current uncertainty. I would love to see myself even more authentic, brave, fully present in each moment and following my true path, wherever it leads me.

FAVOURITE SPORTS OR ACTIVITIES:  Dancing (5 Rhythms) and Yoga.

FAVOURITE HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: I love reading, writing, festivals, dancing, bushwalking.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET SKILL: My friends and colleagues say it is my ability to see beyond the surface into the core of someone’s being, their very heart, and help them connect with it.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU:  There are quite a few people who inspire me. Carl Jung with his courage to delve deep into the inner worlds, way ahead of his time. Lissa Rankin, a medical doctor who dared to explore and create a bridge between medicine and spirituality. Tosha Silver, who is mastering true surrender. I am inspired by everything and everyone around me, deeply touched when people really connect with their soul and dare to walk their own path, bringing their unique gifts to the world.

WHO WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD HEROES: Even as a young girl I was inspired by warriors, so I looked up to Solid Snake, my favourite video game character. That continued into adulthood, only realizing that warriors are all around me, all people who feel the fear and decide to lean into it, face it and be themselves.

3 THINGS YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND: Pen, paper and my Kindle.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE: Landing on the 5 Rhythms dance floor is a complete delight for me. And definitely massage.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE: Back To The Future trilogy.

FAVOURITE PLACES TO TRAVEL: I love Spain and Bali. I would love to visit more Pacific islands and the Caribbean.

IF YOU DIDN’T PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY, WHAT OTHER PROFESSION WOULD YOU PURSUE: When I was a little girl, I wanted to become an astronomer. When I needed to choose a Uni, I was deciding between graphic design and psychology. I was lucky that I somehow dipped into all of that: I studied psychology, completed graphic design and just before moving to Australia, I had a chance to work in an Observatory with a genius passionate astronomer and give lectures on stars and planets.
