Happy New Year to all our valued psychology and dietetic clients! We hope you had a restful break and are ready for a positive year ahead.
Reminding you of good news! As of January 1st, you’re eligible for a new Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) for the calendar year. This means you can access Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions (with an eligible referral from your GP).
But here’s the twist: If you’re currently accessing services under an Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan (EDTP), your plan renews 12 months from the date of your initial referral, not the calendar year.
What does this mean for you?
MHCP: If you’re not on an EDTP and want to continue or start psychology sessions, schedule an appointment with your GP to get a new MHCP referral.
EDTP: If you’re currently on an EDTP, your plan will renew 12 months from the date your GP initially referred you. Keep track of this date to ensure continued access to rebated sessions.
Why the difference?
EDTPs recognize that eating disorder recovery is often a longer-term process. The 12-month renewal from your referral date ensures continuity of care and allows you to access the support you need, when you need it.
