Christina is a qualified and experienced Psychologist. She is kind and caring in her approach and loves helping clients achieve their goals and improve their life. Her client centred approach is about taking the time to get to know you and tailoring your therapy appropriately, working with you to understand your difficulties and then give you practical, evidence-based strategies and skills to overcome them and move forward.
Christina has an interest in and enthusiasm for promoting healthy attitudes to body image, this is evident both within her research and therapeutic practice. Christina is focused on helping people of all sorts of bodies learn to feel comfortable with themselves, enjoy food and activity, without experiencing body shame or guilt. Christina has an Economics degree, MBA, Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) degree with Honours in Psychology, and a Master of Professional Psychology. She is currently undertaking her Doctorate in Psychology focusing on teenage social media usage and its impacts.
Christina’s Doctoral studies is focused on how changing technologies are impacting adolescence in a dynamic and changing world. Christina’s research explores adolescent social issues such as the use of Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook and the impacts constant social comparison has on mental health, in particular on body image and sense of self.
Christina has experience working in a private practice with adolescents and adults struggling with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, personality issues, trauma, eating disorders, PTSD, drug and alcohol abuse, behavioural difficulties, and low self-worth.
Christina is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and she is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and The Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).
She practices several different therapies with her main therapeutic orientations being Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness approaches and Schema Therapy. In addition, Christina provides Maudsley Family Therapy for young people with restrictive eating. Christina offers rebates under Medicare and private health insurance.
Christina currently sees clients at BodyMatters on Tuesday and Saturdays.
