QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Arts – Psychology
ACHIEVEMENTS: Personally, I think my most significant achievements are things that have pushed me out of my comfort zone, no matter how big or small. I could be working hard to push through a challenging assignment, or travelling alone in a foreign place.
WHY DID YOU PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY? Initially I wanted to pursue a career in business and thought the psychology component would add value to my degree. However, during my degree I fell in love with psychology.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK AT BODYMATTERS? One of my favourite subjects at university was The Psychology of Eating and Drinking. I wanted to work somewhere where I can pursue this interest in eating behaviours further.
YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE: “Every human heartbeat is a universe of possibilities” – Gregory David Roberts
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: Continuing to study and learn, building more professional skills and capabilities, travelling more, and owning a house.
FAVOURITE SPORTS OR ACTIVITIES: I have been practicing Aikido for the past couple of years and really love it. It is a non-violent martial art that challenges me mentally and physically. I also enjoy activities that get me outdoors.
FAVOURITE HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: Reading, watching movies/documentaries, board games, photography, travelling, dancing, hiking, scuba diving, skiing, sailing, and the list goes on… I enjoy most things I try. Oh, and sleeping!
WHAT IS YOUR SECRET SKILL: I have a fairly good visual memory, so I can remember people’s faces pretty well.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: People’s stories, both real and fictional; their goals, the hard work they put into achieving them and the ups & downs along the way.
WHO WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD HEROES: Mystery Inc, from Scooby Doo. They always seemed so analytical, adventurous and fearless – not including Shaggy and Scooby, who were just fun.
3 THINGS YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND: A warm blanket, a penknife and my iPod.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE: Buttered toast.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE: It changes all the time, but at the moment it would have to be Whiplash. The movie is equal parts nerve-wracking and inspiring.
FAVOURITE PLACES TO TRAVEL: Japan or Turkey; they both have friendly people, great food and a very interesting history and culture.
IF YOU DIDN’T PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY, WHAT OTHER PROFESSION WOULD YOU PURSUE: I don’t know the exact profession I would pursue, but I think I would be working for an NGO.
