Binge eating help: People who binge-eat but can't put on weight

Recently, A Current Affair interviewed BodyMatters’ Managing Director Sarah McMahon about binge eating disorder help and people who binge eat but can’t put on weight.

Despite eating over 5 times the daily recommended intake, a slim physique is still maintained. This tells us a lot about the problem of judging someone’s health by their size.

Myths about people who are ‘obese’ include the idea that they are always eating and that they often overeat, and/or binge-eat. In fact, only 25% of people who binge-eat meet the criteria for ‘obesity’ (BMI > 30).

Another common myth tells us that thin people are automatically healthier than those who are fat; a better way of conceptualising health involves looking at their eating patterns & lifestyle.
