Jessica Bakon, a podcast host of BodyMatters Australasia for eating disordersJessica is a qualified Social Worker who holds an Honours degree from the University of New South Wales. She has worked across hospitals within the Northern Sydney’s Local Health District such as at Royal North Shore Hospital. After gaining the experience she was hoping for in the healthcare system Jessica is now completing her Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. As a Social Worker Jessica is trained in evidence- based treatments such as Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. As well as she is an advocate and supporter of people within the LGBTQIA+ community, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples, and those who experience Eating Disorders.

Jessica spent her young working years enjoying her studies, volunteering for charities, and finding a passion in supporting people. As someone with a lived experience of an eating disorder, Jessica now hosts and produces the ‘Understanding BodyMatters Podcast’. As a way to advocate and support those from the experiences of Eating Disorders. Jessica is now looking forward to expanding her knowledge and skills further throughout the completion of her Masters Degree. Hoping to support people in the field of eating disorders with a particular interest in adolescence.
