Q&A: Meet Angela Daley and find out about our Mindful Macrame workshops!

We are thrilled to introduce Angela Daley who will be running monthly workshops at BodyMatters teaching macrame skills to support recovery. These will be held in afternoons on the 2nd Saturday of each month and moderated by one of our therapists to support Angela in providing a safe, recovery oriented environment for all who attend. NICKNAME: Ange, Angie.

QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration

ACHIEVEMENTS: I lived abroad in England for two years travelling Europe and working in England, this really got me out of my comfort zone meeting new people and seeing the world in a whole new way.

WHY DID YOU PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY? I didn’t really pursue psychology I really fell into it, I didn’t know much about mental health growing up but realizing that the way we think and changing our mindsets can be one of the most freeing things, after overcoming my own unhealthy mindsets I wanted to be an example for others that they CAN overcome any obstacles in their lives.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK AT BODYMATTERS? I love the vision of BodyMatters and that it helps people who are trapped in the cycle of an eating disorder get their life back again.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS: Living back in the country side somewhere with my family and continuing to do what I love.  

FAVOURITE SPORTS OR ACTIVITIES: Hockey, Swimming and Bush Walking.

FAVOURITE HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: I have always loved being creative over the last few years I have explored Macrame, Weaving and I also love listening to great music.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET SKILL: I can play the piano.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU: There are so many people around me that have inspired me to take risks and pursue what I love doing. Also People with qualities such as a positive outlook on life and being persistent.

WHO WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD HEROES: I loved observing my how my nan and pop did work they owned a farm near Bowral putting in a lot of hours but continuing to put family first and also contributed to the Red Cross and the Local council. My Nan also loved gardening and she was so talented having several open gardens at their property.

3 THINGS YOU WOULD TAKE ON A DESERT ISLAND: Weaving and macramé supplies, my pillow collection and chai tea.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE: A remedial massage and a pedicure.  

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOVIE: ‘Perks of being a wallpaper flower’ and ‘Freedom Writers’

FAVOURITE PLACES TO TRAVEL: Anywhere with mountains and mirror lakes I have been to Norway and New Zealand they are my most favorite places I have visited, next on my list is Canada.  

IF YOU DIDN’T PURSUE PSYCHOLOGY, WHAT OTHER PROFESSION WOULD YOU PURSUE: I would have most likely chosen to be a Preschool or Primary School Teacher
